We are seeking a motivated Junior Hardware / Electrical Engineer to join our team in Groningen and help drive the development of cutting-edge quantum sensing technology. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in circuit design, prototyping, and compliance while collaborating closely with experts across optics, software, and biomedical engineering.

What you’ll do
The role

We’re looking for a Junior Hardware / Electrical Engineer to join our team in Groningen. You’ll contribute to electrical design, testing, and installation, and gain hands-on experience in:

  • Designing and testing circuits and PCB layouts (with mentoring).
  • Supporting prototype assembly, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Learning about compliance and certification (CE, UL, FCC, MDR).
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team (optics, software, biomedical).
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related (or near completion).
  • 0–3 years of experience (internships, student projects welcome).
  • Curiosity, hands-on mindset, and eagerness to learn.

About QT Sense

QT Sense is a spin-off from the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). We are developing Quantum Nuova, a breakthrough quantum sensing platform that uses fluorescent nanodiamonds to measure oxidative stress inside living cells.
